She’s Come Undone

She’s come undone
She didn’t know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
Mama, it was too late

The Guess Who

The title of this painting was inspired by the Guess Who song lyrics ,  but unlike the song, it’s not too late for her.  This painting is about liberation. It’s about breaking free from things that hold one back. So in this instance “coming undone” is a positive unravelling…

As I finished this first paragraph, I heard a crash. I walked in to the other room and there she was on the floor. I exhaled as I noted she landed face up, and except for smeared paint on one of my chairs, she appeared undamaged. All I could say was “Whoa!”

This artwork was completed with a palette knife built up over several layers. The paint is so thick it will take about a month for it to dry to the touch, and many more months before the entire piece is cured.

Here’s a bit of detail around the eye, and a zoom in of her face… they would would make  fun abstracts:

I’ve had strong feedback from everyone who walks in the studio, and the piece sold before it was even finished to a psychologist down the hall.
