Promises Kept ~ Poignant New Music

Promises Kept Music By Jason Shepherd and Shannon Grissom

I must admit that when I was a child, my hero was not a sports star, nor an actor.

It was Merlin the Magician of Arthurian legend.

So it’s not a far stretch of my imagination  to say that when I heard Jason Shepherd’s latest instrumental, it  conjured up visions of medieval England.

Jason’s inspiration for the music was much closer to home, set in the present day, and beautifully real.  He was inspired by the touching  story of Lucien and Betty Royse, members of his church.

I too was profoundly moved by Lucien Royse’s blog story and decided I’d see if I could create a song that spoke to Promises Kept, and marry it with my medieval vision. As I sang the song, I thought about my own parents.  I thought about how my Dad cared for my Mom round the clock until her passing. I don’t think I made it through an entire taping without crying. But they were not sad tears. For me it is a song of  love, hope and comfort.

Most importantly, it’s a tribute to promises kept.

Enjoy~

You can find this song on our CD, Virtually Possible, now available on Amazon and iTunes.

Lyrics

Promises Kept

Promises Made

From a lad to a maid

Promises made forever

Promises made

In the pale moon light

Promises made forever

And so they love

Thank the stars above

Come what may

Promises made from

From a queen to knight

Promises made forever

Promises made

With rings and rice

Promises made forever

And their love is strong

So they carry on

Come what may

Promises kept

As they did not forget

Promises made forever

Promises kept

They embraced and wept

Promises made forever

And their love is strong

So they carry on

Come what may

What may

Oh wow, what beautiful music and voice! I, too, am a Merlin fan…that is the inspiration for my blog’s name! I’m glad that those happy tears come for you now…mine is with “Danny Boy” which I could not listen to for many years after my great grandmother died! Isn’t it amazing how those sad songs for us become healing ones?
