Facebook has jailed me for saying thank you!

Yep! For saying thank you. Here’s what happened…
Every time I get a new like on my music page or art page, I send the person/business a private thank you message.
If the person/business is already on my friend list, Facebook knows how to respond. But for the people who are fans but not personal friends, Facebook has gone wonky.
Recently, I got a rush of new likes on my pages So I sent thank you’s to all the new people who liked my pages.
Facebook decided I was spam and said I could not send out any more notes to people.
I wasn’t spamming. These were personalized notes.
Spam?
Today it blocked my friend requests for seven days. Bizarre! I’ve only initiated a handful over the last two months.
I sent Facebook a note about the thank you’s and they have not responded.
I’m not sure if it’s worth sending them another note about the friend requests, but I’m going to give it a shot.
I shouldn’t be penalized for tying to keep my private page private. I shouldn’t be penalized for thanking people who like my pages.
Not cool Facebook. Where I come from, good manners is also good social media.

Facebook AND Twitter have very stupid automatic triggers to block a tweet or post. And, both GIGANTIC sites have lousy feedback or “Help.”
My biggest issue with Twitter is their Twitter Jail protocol. The idea is good – to block spam – but when I – for example – am hosting or participating in a Tweet Chat such as my own #DadChat, to get blocked for excessive tweets seems to actually defeat the goal of engagement.
That said, I’m TOTALLY with your main point of good manners. Personally, I usually restrict my snarky comments since there is no real value in posting them. Every now and then, I can’t resist…but I’m getting better!
Good points Bruce! Twitter jail~ oooof! We shouldn’t get penalized for true engagement.
I think that is so ridiculous and sad. I have been in twitter jail for the same reason and unable to like pages on Facebook. As Bruce mentioned their Help is no Help at all. It will be a miracle if you hear back from them. They try not to “engage” with their members!
So true Lisa!

I can’t stand the way FB makes up things as they go along. They so don’t get it.
Indeed Janet.

Shannon, I do believe you are talking about 2 things here; #1 your personal profile and #2 your business page. Regarding friend requests, I’m guessing you sent one and the person clicked ignore and selected that they don’t know you. That will get you grounded from sending more!
Regarding your Facebook biz page, FB is very fussy about sending out messages. My suggestion is to not send out thank you messages. Imagine what would happen if a user received messages like that for page they like! Instead, maybe post about it…and say a hello and post a pic with it.
The “rules” for personal profiles vs. biz pages are quite different (as they should be)! Good luck with sorting all this out!
You are correct. I am talking about two related issues.
I appreciate getting private thank you’s from pages I like. They make me feel appreciated.
I could do public welcomes on my page. Not sure I want to do that. I don’t like to post more than once a day. working to keep the pages clutter free….
Lots to think about…
