New Artwork: Harboring Oz

posted in: Art 6

This artwork, Harboring Oz, is the first in the series.

Much of my artwork is created in layers , with brushes, over a long period of time.

Yesterday, I decided to start a series of  palette knife paintings  and complete them in a single day.

I’m grinning, finishing a painting in one session may not seem like such a big deal to people who have not painted.

But for me, it is a really big deal.

It’s taken me 20 years of painting to be able to do this!

Where’d the title come from?

Well I was thinking about the poppies and the harbor at Moss Landing California

and the fact that when I get through with this series, I’ll get to see even further behind the curtain at Oz.

    Gorgeous!
I wish I could see all the texture- I’m sure it’s even more beautiful in person. :0)

I love what you’ve done here, Shannon. In my house, I live with an artist who is constantly at work. Trust me, I knew nothing about art, except what I liked. Slowly, I have gained a greater appreciation of the passion and finesse each piece requires. Thank you.
