Ever Paint Over Yourself?

posted in: Art 6

I started this miniature self-portrait a month ago. Since that time, it has sat much of the time untouched while I worked on paying gigs :O)

Last week I worked on the second draft (statement).   I took this tiny painting as far as I could that session, and finally set it aside to dry.

I figured I’d adjust the drawing and finish the detail in the next session.

This morning I was set to finish the piece, but the thought of working that tiny on myself made me tired. (The piece is 5″ x 7″)

Tired! That’s not good!

I knew that with that sort of  attitude I’d never make it a good painting.

So I painted over it (myself) in shades of Pthalo Turquoise.  Oh it was liberating! And I love the the resulting painting. It feels like the ocean to me.

I didn’t give up. I merely realized that to continue on this course would set myself up for dissatisfaction.

I’ll begin again. This time with

a better picture and a very large canvas.

Ever paint over yourself to give yourself a fresh start?

To me it appeared that rather than painting over yourself, you went inside and painted part of your essence in ocean like blues. Not the first time you painted yourself blue either! Love it!

Yes, have “painted” myself over many times …that’s life! Can’t wait to see the fresh self-portrait.

I love this. Maybe that’s exactly what I’ll do today. Paint over myself with the colours of the ocean.
