Past The Comfort Zone

Here’s a peek at day 2 of my latest self-portrait.

Shanonn Grissom Self Portrait Work in Progress
Self Portrait Day 2

I’m taking this opportunity to push myself past my comfort zone.

How?

I’m not blending away all of my strokes , and I am pushing the color further than I would on a traditional portrait.

Each time I approach the canvas I’ll layer in more color and hopefully leave evidence of all the strokes that have gone before…

I’ll dive back into this again next week after this layer dries…

How do you push yourself past your comfort zone in your own work?

Wow it’s looking great. It’s so good to push yourself in your own work because nobody else is going to do it. I really pushed myself out of my comfort zones by writing short stories this year. It was fun and I learned a lot but I think it’s definitely time for me to return to novels

Thanks Marcelle! I’m happy with how it’s progressing. Ooooh I love that you experimented with another genre. What a fun way to expand!
