Pushed It A Little Too Far

I’ve always loved paintings that go beyond the local color and contain an abundance of color surprises.

To that end I thought I’d experiment on my self-portrait and  see how much color I could infuse.  The light side worked…

 …and the dark didn’t.

Oh my face is not too bad but my hair looks like a bad  day at the hairdressers :O)

What went wrong? I changed my color scheme mid-stream and made it way too cool, way too light in value and  really muddy.

Still, I’m glad I tried.

Experimenting on my own self-portrait always seems to kick-start change in other areas of my life. Have you also found this to be true?

A few more days and she’ll be dry enough to make adjustments. Hoping to finish her off this week…
