I’ve always loved paintings that go beyond the local color and contain an abundance of color surprises.
To that end I thought I’d experiment on my self-portrait and see how much color I could infuse. The light side worked…
…and the dark didn’t.
Oh my face is not too bad but my hair looks like a bad day at the hairdressers :O)
What went wrong? I changed my color scheme mid-stream and made it way too cool, way too light in value and really muddy.
Still, I’m glad I tried.

Experimenting on my own self-portrait always seems to kick-start change in other areas of my life. Have you also found this to be true?
A few more days and she’ll be dry enough to make adjustments. Hoping to finish her off this week…
