Held Together By The Love It Grows

posted in: Music 2

I love that songs can be inspired anywhere, anytime! My new friend , artist Vicki Thomas, hadn’t yet been to my home, and wondered about the decor of my home. I laughed and replied  “nothing matches but everything goes.”

My own words got me thinking about what my home holds.  Most folks say they feel comfortable there, and that’s the best compliment I can receive. I also thought about homes I loved to visit, and the first thing that came to mind was my Italian Grandparents home, and the Sunday dinners of our youth.

As for decor, I love vintage finds, and I have an eclectic mix from many periods. Some pieces were purchased and some were handed down. I feel that life is like that. Some things we buy ourselves, and other things are given to us. It’s up to me to decide what to keep. Love…. it’s a keeper 🙂

It felt good to be writing and playing again. I’m glad the music is back…

Love It Grows

Seemed it always smelled like cookies

And they cranked the thermostat high

You could hear Rosemary Clooney

As you ate some pizza pie

Come on come on come on a their house

There’s an old steamer trunk stained with paint

Well-worn books in the barrister case

TV came before remotes were made

Dining room set was a lucky break

Nothing matches but everything goes

Held together by the love it grows

Seems like something from a movie

Looking back on days gone by

Bet you’ll Dean Martin crooning

If you happen to pop on by

Come on come on come come on a my house

There’s an old steamer trunk stained with paint

Well-worn books in the barrister case

TV came before remotes were made

Dining room set was a lucky break

Nothing matches but everything goes

Held together by the love it grows

It may look a little dated

If you’re just passing through

But if you stay awhile

You’ll start to smile

And love will grow in you

So come on come on come on to my house

There’s an old steamer trunk stained with paint

Well-worn books in the barrister case

TV came before remotes were made

Dining room set was a lucky break

Nothing matches but everything goes

Held together by the love it grows

Held together by the love it grows

Shannon, grandparents houses were just like you remember. Thanks for reminding me of my childhood. Keep on, keeping on.
