Old A Lady Shoes

Much of this song came to me as I was driving down road 600 in Ahwahnee, CA.   I was on my way to the Yosemite Western Artists Portrait Show and thinking about how I was dressed. Though I was pleased with my outfit, I was  laughing to myself about my choice of shoes. Gone were the days when I would choose style over comfort.  I giggled when I realized I had chosen my  “old lady shoes” over my cute boots.

I could hear my mother in my mind’s ear saying “Old A Lady” (much like the old Italians would say it) and then I heard it yodeled. I laughed all the way to the show and knew I had to write this song.

I was thinking the yodeling came out of left field until yesterday when I realized we had been listening to Oktoberfest music during our Live Model Painting Sessions. (Juanita Smith always brings in a great mix of music for our sessions.)YWA Shannon Grissom

I’m still smiling about this song and I hope it makes you smile too! Have a listen~

Old-A-Lady Shoes

Back in the days of high and mighty
My footwear attire was not taken lightly
But comfort was not a consideration
I’d much rather make a great sensation
Loved my stilettos
Loved my boots
Wouldn’t be caught dead in old lady shoes

Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady, old- a-lady, old-a-lady, old- a-lady
Old-a-lady shoes

Smack in the haze of casual Friday
My fanfare wild and a bit unsightly
I confess I suffered much humiliation
As I tottered at a coworker’s station
Still I loved my stilettos
I loved my boots
Wouldn’t be caught dead in old lady shoes

Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady, old- a-lady, old-a-lady, old- a-lady
Old-a-lady shoes

There’ve been too many bumps
My pumps are gathering dust
Been a long time since the 80’s
Now I reach for my old a lady’s

Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady, old- a-lady, old-a-lady, old- a-lady,
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady shoes
Old-a-lady, old- a-lady, old-a-lady, old- a-lady,
Old-a-lady shoes
