Songs Aren’t Cheap

I always wondered about the phrase….”Got it for a song…” so I wrote about it 🙂

Enjoy~

Songs Aren’t Cheap

Pointing like Vanna to her prized antique

Bought it at a thrift shop known for shabby chic

Cabriole legs oh so sweet

She said she got it for a song

But songs aren’t cheap

Hell no they wake me up in the middle of the night

Sometimes they won’t come out without a fight

They vanish quickly like a setting sun

And it seems that I must always court ‘em

That saying never made sense to me

She said she got it for a song

But songs aren’t cheap

Glowing like Santa with his rosy cheeks

Caught it at a pawn shop on down the street

Cadillac taste for a buck ninety-three

He said he got it for a song

But songs aren’t cheap

Don’t ya know they wake me up in the middle of the night?

Or they won’t come out without a fight

They vanish quickly like a setting sun

And it seems that I must always court ‘em

That saying never made sense to me

He said he got it for a song

But songs aren’t cheap

Oh cheap implies vulgar, poor of quality

Costing little but look at songs, honestly

They help you cry, or roll in the isles

Songs aren’t cheap they’re priceless

Hell yes they wake me up in the middle of the night

Or they won’t come out without a fight

They vanish quickly like a setting sun

And it seems that I must always court ‘em

That saying never made sense to me

They said they got it for a song but songs aren’t cheap
